CHIANTI CLASSICO HILLS

“Chianti Classico” is a charming hill-covered region located between the provinces of Siena, Arezzo and Florence: “Chianti”, well known as an excellent wine area, is also an amazing rural landscape with the wonderful views of silvered olive trees, the geometry of the vineyards and the beauty of farmhouses and wineries.

Under the historical point of view, this area was part of the ancient "Florentine Military League of Chianti" during the famous medieval conflict between Siena and Florence. Right here, Sienese, still now, emphasize and celebrate the success in Montaperti village, 4th September 1260. Even Dante in the “Divina Commedia” wrote that this epic battle "made the river Arbia red” of the Florentine blood and after that victory the Republic of Siena was able to dominate, for some years, the political and economic scenario of the time.

Now this land is the ideal location for a relaxing visit admiring the beautiful landscape, appreciating the typical wineries and the spectacular wine. This is the new life of the medieval fortified castles where is also possible to taste the numerous types of Chianti wines: Chianti Classico, Colli Senesi, Colli Aretini and much more.

In this area there are also a lot of ancient Etruscan necropolis, as Poggino and Montecalvario, dating back to the VI century B.C., confirming the Etruscan importance in “Chianti”.
